Introduction

The Research Grant Management Office (RGMO) at ASTU plays a crucial role in implementing effective research grant management. This office connects researchers with funding agencies, ensuring that all facets of grant acquisition, administration, and compliance are managed proficiently and ethically. By offering essential support for research grant management, the RGMO strengthens the university's ability to carry out significant research that advances science and benefits society.

Vision

The vision of the Research Grant Management Office (RGMO) is to enhance research excellence by significantly increasing successful grant applications, grant managements, ensuring compliance, and fostering strong collaborations between researchers and funding agencies.

Mission

Mission of the RGMO) is to:

  • Provide comprehensive grant management services.
  • Facilitate and support the ASTU’s research community.
  • Ensure compliance with funding regulations and the ASTU’s policies and guidelines.
  • Promote effective collaboration between researchers and funding institutes.
  • Enhance the ASTU's capacity for impactful research that benefits society
  • Empower researchers to maximize their potential through:
    • Efficient grant application processes.
    • Financial oversight.
    • Strategic guidance.

 

Major duties and responsibilities of RGMO

  • Grant Application Support
    • RGMO assists researchers in identifying funding opportunities aligned with their research goals.
    • RGMO provides guidance on grant proposal writing, budget preparation, and submission processes.
  • Soliciting Research Grants
  • RGMO identifies potential funding sources, including government agencies, private foundations, and industry partners that align with the ASTU's research priorities.
  • RGMO assists researchers in developing comprehensive grant proposals that clearly ensures compliance with funding agencies’ and ASTU’s guidelines.
  • Pre-Award Management
    • RGMO reviews grant proposals for compliance with university policies and funding agency requirements.
    • The office coordinates internal approvals and ensure timely submission of proposals.
  • Post-Award Administration
    • RGMO oversees the financial management of awarded grants, including budgeting, accounting, and reporting.
    • The office ensures compliance with all funding agency regulations and university policies throughout the grant lifecycle.
  • Training and Development
    • RGMO facilitates and conduct workshops and training sessions for faculty and staff on grant writing, compliance, and financial management.
    • The office provides ongoing support and resources to enhance the research capabilities of the university community.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • RGMO strikes to foster relationships with external funding institutes, industry partners, and other stakeholders to promote research opportunities.
    • The office serves as a bridge between researchers and administrative units, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Monitoring and Reporting
    • RGMO tracks grant performance and monitor the progress of research activities the projects to ensure compliance with funding requirements.
    • The office prepares and submits required reports to funding institutes and university administration.
  • Policies and guidelines Development
    • RGMO develops and implement policies/guidelines and procedures related to grant management to enhance efficiency and compliance.
    • The office stays informed about changes in funding regulations and best practices in grant management.
