The University-Industry Linkage and Technology Transfer Directorate organized the training in collaboration with the Ethiopian intellectual property authority. The training is given on patent drafting and patent information search to attain the university`s goal of applying for patent right registration.

Dr. Alemu Disasa, V/president for Research and Technology Transfer, who spoke at the opening of the training, noted that despite the delay, it is important to organize the training in ASTU. Dr. Alemu explained that one responsibility of our academic staff is coming up with research and innovation that addresses the demands of the community. Although there are many intellectual products of our university, there is a lack of proper registration and retention. Therefore, it is very important that this first-of-its-kind training is held in our university.
