Higher-ranking regional representatives and invited guests attended this significant event. The purpose of the workshop was to evaluate three consultancy projects, discuss their findings, and formulate future strategies.
• Development of a Geospatial Database for Manufacturing Industries in Adama City, Mojo Town, and Bishoftu City
• Rural Industrialization Project Study: Rapid Assessment of Potentials and Resource Mapping, Woreda and Town Level Site Selection and Project Profiling for Identified Industry Categories in 100 Woredas
• Cottage Industries Study in Oromia: Rapid Assessment, Technology and Skill Gap Identification, and Improvement Strategies with Selected Feasibility Study
Dr. Lemi Guta, the President of ASTU, began the event by expressing his heartfelt congratulations to the project teams from ASTU and the Oromia Investment and Industry Bureau (OIIB). He commended their hard work and dedication to ensuring the success of the projects.
In his opening remarks, H.E. Mr. Ahimed Idris, the Head of OIIB, gave an overview of the projects. He emphasized the value of sound investment management in boosting the country's economy, creating job opportunities, and advancing knowledge and technology. He also highlighted the need for evidence-based monitoring and support to ensure the effectiveness of investments.
Following the detailed presentations of the projects by the respective teams, discussion was made among the participants, which allowed for a thorough evaluation and analysis of the outputs of the projects.

H.E. Mr. Mesfin Melaku, the Cluster Coordinator of Cities in Oromia with the title of Vice President, delivered a strong message to ASTU and OIIB in his concluding remarks. He also issued a strong directive to the OIIB to make every effort to ensure the implementation of the projects, sending a resounding message. Mr. Mesfin further stressed the importance of finalizing the ongoing consultancy project in a short period of time, which entails the development of a geospatial database for manufacturing industries in Sheger City. He also urged the OIIB to expand such a project to include other urban centers in the region.
