Adama Science and Technology University (ASTU) organized a training focused on the Online Students Management System (OSMS) on November 28, 2024 at Borati Hall. This event was organized for College Deans, Chief Executive Officers, Directors, team leaders, and experts within the institution.

 

Professor Tegene Desalegn, Director for Academic Programs, opened the training by welcoming participants and highlighting its significance. He emphasized that adopting technology is essential for large institutions like ASTU, stating that the training would help bridge gaps and improve service delivery.
Dr. Zerihun Belay, the Dean for the main Registrar, shared insights on the long-standing use of the OSMS for various functions, including grade reporting, student admissions, and registration. He noted that the importance of reminding staff about the system's capabilities.
The training was conducted by Mr. Philimon Birhanu, CEO of Winner System Software Solution. He discussed the advantages of an integrated higher education information management system, particularly its efficiency and ability to enhance decision-making. Mr. Philimon also detailed the key components of the OSMS.
Dr. Lemi Guta, President of ASTU, concluded the session by thanking the organizers and urging participants to utilize the OSMS in line with the university's legislation. He pointed out that the upgraded system now includes new features such as recommendation letters, official transcripts, document authentication, and other related services for the users online.
