ASTU organized a multi-stakeholder platform in which four entities affirmed their readiness to work together. Delegates from Adama Industrial Park, Industrial Project Service and Mada Walabu University visited ASTU on Nov 28, 2024. The objective of the visit was to sign memoradum of understanding so as to engage collaboratively on different issues. The delegates received a warm welcome by the ASTU management team led by Dr. Lemi Guta, President of ASTU.
In his welcome speech Dr. Lemi highlighted that strengthening University-industry linkage and joint research with sisterly Universities is one of the priorities of ASTU. Dr. Lemi noted that the platform was organized in order to these entities to realize areas of engagement mobilize their resources for a better effect.
Dr. Ahimad Kalil , President of Mada Walabu University expressed his sincere gratitude for the warm welcome and expressed his commitment to change the MOU into action. He said that he has firm belief that medicinal plant research project between ASTU’s Institute of Pharmaceutical Science Center of excellence and Mada Walabu University will be a fruitful undertaking. Mr.Gulilat Abebe, General Manager of Adama Industrial Park and Mr. Shiferaw Solomon General Manager of Industrial Project Service (IPS), also appreciated the warm reception and expressed their commitment and readiness to put the MOU into action.
Mr. Gulilat noted that Adama Industrial Park affirmed his commitment to collaborate in the areas of research and project management, technology transfer, training and consultancy, resource sharing, wastewater management and co-hosting seminars and events. Dr. Zekarias, in his speech on behalf of industrial project service, highlighted that automation, human capability development (soft skill development), business and strategic plan are their priority areas of engagement with ASTU. He added that his institution is ready to share its experience in this regard. The participants of the event made thorough discussion on the way forward for implementing the agreements and the event was concluded by visits held at ICT studio and Research Park.
