The training is organized for female academic staff members. Dr. Alemu Disasa, Vice President of Research and Technology Transfer, who opened the training at Borati Hall, recalled that the Gender Affairs Directorate has picked an important issue to encourage women's participation. He stressed that there is a need to boost the participation of female academic staff through different mechanisms.
Dr. Alemu added that the participation of female academic staff members is not to the level expected so far. He reiterated that among issues that he realized during his tenure as university leader is that he has been able to confirm that women are very much concerned and very much focused when they are engaged in the field of research.
Director of the Gender Affairs Directorate, Mrs. Sewinet Bora, pointed out that this training will serve as a starting point for women's participation in the field of research instead of focusing only on teaching.

The trainers who will be providing the training for three days have many years of experience in higher institutions, so they expressed their hope that the trainees will share useful knowledge and skills.
